YOUR
MOTHER’S LOVER ROCKS WITH JUST TWO - BY N.L. BELARDES

A chick on a guitar and dude on a drum set—stir in some
punk roots and some Southland style. What else could you need?
You can be gigantic with just that, and Your
Mother’s Lover was as they played a short set at Gigantic
clothing store on Friday night. They’re not messing around
either; Sarah and Corey have got an 80s disco house sound revitalized
into a Millennium-era punk that is so catchy you can’t
help but hang out, listen and groove. Take a look at their site,
their songs are getting tons of hits. I really don’t
think they’re messing around here, folks. They’re
a real deal on a serious path to take over a genre of music
that is as long lasting as any other music era. Their talent
was obvious too and clearly driven by the drum rhythms and grinding
guitar. Missing persons, Ramones, Iggy Pop…it’s
all in there. Corey’s look for the evening even seemed
a little Bowie-esque as he played drums and little glowing buildings
flashed on a screen behind him... I enjoyed their set and wished
I had talked to them more after the show. I gave a quick introduction
to Sarah and said, "I really enjoyed your music. It was
so catchy. I loved it!" I should have bought a shirt...
They've got to come back. Alex?
